DO’S

HOW TO WASH YOUR WIG
The idea is to hold your unit vertically and keep dipping your unit in and out of the lukewarm water until the water is clear (you would have to change the wash water a couple of times depending on how unclean your unit is).
Personally, I like to start the wash process with the scalp part which is the lace that comes directly on our heads.
- Before we dive into the wash process, let’s grab our pair of scissors and trim off excess flyouts.
- Then we can add lukewarm water in a bowl.
- Add a good amount of a good quality shampoo and mix.
- Dip in the lace part of your unit and gently massage the lather into the lace with your fingertips to remove residue. In the case where your lace is extensively soiled with lace glue, you’d want to make the water slightly warmer.
- Coat the areas stained with glue with a good quality conditioner and let it sit in the water for 20-30 minutes before resuming the wash session.
- Still focusing on the glue-stained lace.
- Grab the towel and make gentle strokes moving from the inner part of the lace outwardly. The glue should fall off easily (do not clean lace in a circular motion).
- Coat the areas stained with glue with a good quality conditioner and let it sit in the water for 20-30 minutes before resuming the wash session.
- As we proceed to the rest of the unit, it is advised to hold your unit in a vertical plane while you submerge the whole unit in and out of the lukewarm water in a continuous fashion.
- Change water 2-3 times depending on how unclean your unit is and repeat the processes above with each change of water.

- THE RINSE
- First, prepare a plain bowl of room-temperature water and submerge out unit.
- 2ndly; prepare a bowl of room-temperature water add a tablespoon of your favorite hair oil and a handful of leave-in conditioner.
- Submerge the whole unit in the solution starting with the tips and leave for 5 mins (do not rinse out).
- Always plane unit in a vertical plane so ensure to style your unit on a mannequin’s head or any stand that will leave the unit in a vertical plane – blow dry on the lowest heat or allow your unit to air dry (best option).
- Trim around the sides of each strand of hair if there are any flyovers.
- Apply a good quality styling hair mousse while hair is still damp.
- Use hair spray or oil sheen to keep it shining.
WIG MAINTENANCE – WHILE IN USE
- If your unit gets wet by any means be sure to always air dry, and do not hide the wig away or sweat on it, always make sure you dry them and not hide them to avoid the growth of microbes, and the development of permanent odor.
- Spray down the lace (especially the part that sits on your hairline) with alcohol spray to disinfect the area, if you need to quickly wash down just the lace, see steps 2, 3, 4 & 7.
- In the case where you have installed your full lace wig, it is ok to sleep in her just like you would if you had regular braids on – all you have to do is pack your unit in a pineapple bun, use Klarah Diamond silk scarf to keep the glued down areas in place. Finally, tuck it into your silk bonnet.
- Remember wigs are a form of protective hairstyling so be sure to take care of your natural hair. Do well to wash and condition your natural hair, oil your scalp, oil and moisturize your hair. Put your hair in a small parted cornrow style before you wear your braided wigs.
As we go further along with this care manual, it is safe to bear in mind that not all units are made from the same material. Below you will find specific instructions you may want to pay attention to regarding the special units if they apply to you.

FULL LACE HUMAN HAIR GODDESS BRAIDS / BOHEMIAN BRAIDS
- This type of unit consists of both the synthetic portion (which is the braids itself) and the human hair portion consists of the curly hair leave outs.
- Treat this unit the same as you’d treat a regular box/knotless braided wig only that you have to select & separate the leave out so you can attend to it.
- For the leave outs you want to use a small bending roller to revive the curls, soak just the leave in hot water, apply mousse when the air is still damp and
- Finally, spray oil sheen on the whole unit.
BUTTERFLY LOCS, FAUX, LOCS, DISTRESSED LOCS, SPRING TWIST, TREE BRAIDS, DREADS, CROCHET & GODDESS LOCS WIGS.
We are literally repeating the steps mentioned above but the 5th step can be done just once because we don’t want the integrity of the locs lost; this applies particularly to the faux locs.
A human hair wig is another stylish way to change your hairstyle. They give versatility, natural feeling, and appearance, and also the ability to try out different looks needed for various daily activities.
To keep your wig looking intact and ensure longevity, special care for the wig is essential. In this blog post, I will walk you through the simple and basic steps you need to practice on your human hair wig so that it can be useful for a long time.
Brushing and Detangling: Start by carefully brushing your wig with a wig brush or a wide-toothed comb specially designed for use on human hair wigs. Before you brush your wigs, make sure that the wigs are tangle-free and dry. Start by gently combing from the ends, and gradually working your way up to the roots of the wig. Be careful not to tug or pull forcefully, because this may cause damage to the strands.
Washing and Conditioning: Constant washing and conditioning of your wigs can help maintain the bounce, and softness and give it a brilliant shine. To do this, simply fill a large bowl with lukewarm water mixed with a mild sulfate-free shampoo. Gently dip the wig in the water and swirl it for an evenly spread of the shampoo. Carefully avoid twisting or rubbing the wig, as this may cause the wig to tangle. After you are done washing, you can then rinse the wig with clean water.
Also, apply a small amount of conditioner. Get a formulated conditioner specially made for human hair wigs, smear some quantity on your palm, then run your fingers through the strands, making sure that every part is coated with the conditioner. Allow the conditioner to hit deep for a few minutes before rinsing it off completely. Remember to always use lukewarm water when you are washing and rinsing.
Drying: The next step after washing is to carefully pat the wig with a neat towel to remove the excess water. It is best you do not wring or twist the wig, as this can cause damage to the wig. Carefully place the wig on a mannequin head or on a wig stand to air-dry the wig naturally. Avoid exposing the wig to direct sunlight or heat sources especially blow dryers, as this can lead to brittle and dry hair.
Styling: Human hair wigs offer diverse styling possibilities. You can simply use a wide-toothed comb or a wig brush to style your wig while it’s still damp. For additional control and strength, you could apply a small quantity of wig mousse or styling gel particularly designed for human hair wigs. Heat styling tools such as curling irons or straighteners can also come in handy, but it’s important to use a heat protectant spray and the tools on a low heat mode to prevent it from damaging the wig.
Storage: Proper storage is vital in maintaining the shape, bounce, and quality of your wig. When your wig is not in use, gently place it on a wig stand or a mannequin head to preserve its style. In case you do not have a wig stand, you can store it in a clean bag. Avoid storing the wig in a damp or humid environment, as this can lead to mold growth. Keep the wig away from direct sunlight or other sources of heat.
Caring for your human hair wig is essential to maintain its natural appearance, bounce, softness, quality, and longevity. By following the simple steps listed above, you can keep your wig looking fresh for as long as you want to wear it.
